Crescent Celebrated World Book Day
On World Book Day, our pupils joined in all the fun by exploring a favourite book through a range of learning activities and objectives that linked to their regular lessons.
Each class chose a favourite book. They included a wide range of popular stories: The Lost Spells, Quick, Let’s Get Out Of Here!, Stick Man, Tuesday, The Day The Crayons Quit, The Whale Who Wanted More, How To Train Your Dragon, Peace Train and The Gruffalo. Throughout the day, the children took part in engaging, age-appropriate tasks, including role-play, performance, poetry, illustration, letter writing, story mapping, design and construction and reflection activities. Year 1 went on a hunt for the Gruffalo, while Year 2 built bridges out of crayons, Year 4 designed book covers in IT and illustrated animals in Science and Year 5 enjoyed story-telling without words. It was wonderful seeing their enthusiasm for books and reading shine through. We can’t wait to see the corridor display Ms Clark is creating from all their amazing work.
