Five Pupils Qualify For National ISA Swim Championships

16 Oct

Crescent made the journey to Walsall Baths on Tuesday 15 October to compete in the Independent Schools’ Association’s Midlands Junior Swimming Gala.

Success at the Regional event would qualify pupils for the ISA National Championships due to take place on Friday 29 November in London at the Olympic Aquatics Centre.

The children swam 25m in the pool and the races included both individual events and team relays. Crescent's pupils showed great confidence, teamwork and skill. A number had swum before and showed their progress through their much-improved finishing positions and personal best times. For others, this was their very first experience of a competitive gala.

Competing against 32 schools and over 350 pupils, it quickly became clear that Crescent was one of the dominant schools. The Year 6 Boys and the Year 4 Boys both won the team shield, with the Year 5 Boys finishing in 2nd place. Those results meant that Crescent's Boys finished first overall.

There were fantastic performances from all of our swimmers, but particular mentions goes to: Sophie G, Zac J, Thomas B, Joshua J and Oliver B who have all been selected to swim for the Midlands in the National Finals.

Head of PE and Games, Rachel McCollin said, “All pupils were a credit to our school, both in and out of the water, and we had some superb performances. Our Swim Captains led from the front providing great encouragement and support to all.”

Many congratulations to the National qualifiers and a huge well done to all of Crescent’s swimmers.
