Fourth Place Overall For Crescent At Regional Qualifier For ISA Athletics

The Crescent School is delighted that their first outing at the Regional Qualifier for the Independent School Association’s National Track and Field Athletics competition finished with a fourth place overall.

On Tuesday 6 June a team of 25 athletes from Years 4 to 6 travelled to Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium to compete in the Regional ISA Midlands’ Athletics Qualifier. The children were competing against 31 schools from across the Midlands.

A fantastic three Crescent School athletes came home first in four events and have therefore qualified for the ISA National Track and Field Championships which will take place later this month.

Head of PE Matt Philips praised the outstanding attitude adopted by the Crescent team. “It was a busy and exciting day,” commented Mr Philips, “I am very pleased with our results, there were many excellent performances and the children’s composure and competitive spirit was commendable. They well and truly lived out our ‘little school big ambitions’ motto!”

Winning their events and qualifying for the Nationals were:

Lewis Darby 1st - 60m Sprint and Long Jump
Olivia Monk 1st - 60m Sprint
Matthew Browne 1st - High Jump

Other commendable performances came from:

Sophie Gray 3rd - High Jump
Emma Sarkies 3rd - 80m Sprint

The ISA National Track and Field Championships takes place later this month on Monday 19 June also at the Alexander Stadium.
